Merchandise Returns (effective May 1, 2026)
Merchandise may be returned within 30 days of purchase date for a refund, on account credit, or exchange. For full reimbursement or on account credit, goods must be in new, resalable condition in original packaging. Acceptance of materially different or used returns is left to the sole discretion of The Music Shoppe, and may be limited to exchanges and/or subject to a restocking fee.
Items ineligible for return or refund include clearance-priced products, software, consignments, non-sterilizable products, custom-made products, audio interfaces, and products purchased via 3rd party financing (e.g. Synchrony, Affirm, etc.). Services such as shipping, delivery, labor and parts are ineligible for return or refund after completion.
Purchases made with in-store financing may be returned for on account credit within the 30 day window.
Defective items will be available for return for full credit within the return period regardless of method of purchase or status assuming the defect is verified by the manufacturer and/or The Music Shoppe.
The customer is responsible for the cost of shipping any items returned to The Music Shoppe.
Refunds will be made to the original method of payment when possible. Returns of items purchased with cash will be refunded via on account credit or company check.
The Music Shoppe reserves the right to limit the scope of our return policy to any individuals abusing these privileges at any time.
Revised Customer Order Policy
Risk Free
The Music Shoppe will gladly order any item for which we have authorized access.
When the item is received, the customer may inspect it to ensure it meets their needs
before proceeding with purchase.
Shipping Charges
Ground shipping of items to The Music Shoppe will be provided at no charge.
Expedited shipping will be available for an extra fee.
Down Payments
The Music Shoppe does not require a down payment for most customer orders.
Exceptions include custom-made products and products considered non-typical
inventory (i.e. special orders). Down payments on special order or custom items are
ineligible for refund. If the customer elects not to complete the purchase, the down
payment may be applied toward another in stock item at The Music Shoppe’s discretion.
Return Policy
Most items purchased via special order are subject to our standard return policy; orders
that require a down payment are the only exception.
Hold Time
Special orders will be held for a maximum of 30 days before being released for sale or
shipped back to the vendor.
Rental Returns
All instrument rentals are commitment-free and may be returned to the store at any time in order to stop monthly payments. Any past due balances on the account must be paid in full.
Returns may also be scheduled for pickup from any school serviced by The Music Shoppe by calling our business office at (309) 452-7436. Please note this service is not offered while school is out of session (winter break, summer break, holidays, etc).
